How Much Does Dog Walking Cost in Glasgow and East Renfrewshire?

If you've been googling this, you've probably already found the answer is "it depends" about fifteen times over. Fair enough, that's true — but it's not that helpful when you're just trying to work out a monthly budget. So here's the actual breakdown.

The short answer

Around Glasgow and East Renfrewshire, group dog walks typically run somewhere in the £14-£20 per walk range, depending on the walker, the length of the walk, and whether it's a group or solo session. At Indiana Bones, our group walks are £16 per walk.

What actually changes the price

Group vs. solo walks. A group walk (several dogs together, usually from different households) is cheaper per walk than a one-on-one solo walk, because the walker's time and van space is shared across more dogs. If your dog needs solo attention — reactive dogs, older dogs who need a gentler pace, or owners who just prefer it — expect to pay more.

Walk length. Most walkers price around a standard hour-long walk, but some offer shorter 30-minute options for a lower rate, usually aimed at puppies or older dogs who can't manage a full hour.

How often you book. Regular, ongoing bookings (say, three or four times a week, every week) tend to work out cheaper per walk than one-off or occasional bookings, since it's predictable work for the walker to plan around.

Where you're based. Pickup location matters more than people expect. A walker whose van route already passes your street costs them nothing extra in fuel or time — a house that's out on its own, off the usual route, sometimes carries a small premium simply because of the extra driving.

Pickup and drop-off vs. meet-at-a-location. Door-to-door collection (which is what we do) tends to sit a little higher than services where you drop your dog off yourself, purely because of the extra time and fuel involved.

Why it's not always worth chasing the cheapest quote

I get why price comparison feels like the obvious way to choose — but with dog walking, cheap and rushed usually go together. A walker charging well under the local going rate is often trying to cram in more dogs per group, spend less time per walk, or cut corners somewhere. None of that is obvious from a price list, only from actually seeing how the walks are run.

Things worth asking about regardless of price:

  • Is your dog walked in a proper group with other dogs, or one of far too many crammed into one van?

  • Does the walker have public liability insurance and DBS checks?

  • Do they use a private, enclosed space for off-lead time, or open ground where recall becomes the owner's problem?

  • What happens if your dog is unwell, injured, or something goes wrong mid-walk?

What's included at Indiana Bones

Our group walks are £16 per walk and include door-to-door pickup and drop-off, a full hour out, and off-lead time in our own private enclosed field rather than a busy public park. We keep groups consistent, so dogs are walked with familiar faces rather than a different mix every day.

If you want to know exactly what a walk with us looks like day to day, we've written about that separately — worth a read if you're deciding between us and someone else.
